This Retro Pokémon Video Game Collection Just Shattered a New Sales Record

Collectors have once again proven that the love for classic Pokémon runs deep. A pristine set of original Game Boy titles just shattered expectations at auction, setting a new high-water mark for vintage video game sales. The trio, consisting of Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow, sold for a staggering sum that has left the collecting community buzzing.

What makes this particular set so special is the condition. Two of the three cartridges achieved a perfect PSA 10 grade, meaning they are essentially flawless. Finding even one unopened, factory-sealed copy from 1998 in that condition is rare. Finding two in the same lot is almost unheard of. The third cartridge, Pokémon Yellow, also graded impressively, though just shy of the perfect score.

The final sale price blew past previous records for this specific set. While individual sealed copies have sold for high amounts before, this complete trio in near-mint condition represents the pinnacle of Pokémon collecting. The auction drew intense bidding from serious collectors worldwide, with the winning bid coming in well above initial estimates.

This sale continues a trend of retro gaming reaching new heights. As physical media becomes scarcer, items from the late 90s are increasingly viewed as both nostalgic treasures and solid investments. For many, these games represent a piece of childhood that can never be recreated. The fact that these particular cartridges have survived over two decades in such pristine shape only adds to their legendary status. The new owner now holds what many consider the holy grail of Pokémon merchandise.
