Toxicology Report Reveals Cause of Death for Call of Duty Co-Creator

A recent toxicology report has confirmed that Vince Zampella, the acclaimed game developer and co-creator of the blockbuster Call of Duty franchise, died from multiple traumatic injuries sustained in a single-vehicle crash. The fatal accident occurred last year along the winding Angeles Crest Highway in Los Angeles County.

According to official findings from the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner, the collision was the sole cause of death. The report notably stated that no alcohol or drugs were detected in Zampella's system at the time of the incident. This detail rules out impairment as a contributing factor in the crash.

Zampella was a pivotal figure in the video game industry, not only for his foundational work on Call of Duty at Infinity Ward but also for his leadership at Respawn Entertainment, the studio behind Titanfall and Apex Legends. His passing at the age of 56 sent waves of mourning through the gaming community, which remembered him as a visionary who helped shape the modern first-person shooter genre. The investigation into the specific circumstances that led to the vehicle leaving the roadway remains with the California Highway Patrol.
